School Centred Initial Teacher Training

The West Midlands Consortium is a highly regarded and successful trainer of Postgraduates wishing to become teachers at Secondary School level.

Established in 1992, we are made up of 30 Partner Secondary Schools, spread across the West Midlands area, including City Academies, Specialist and Foundation Schools.

Training is delivered by experienced teachers and educationalists and is lead from the innovative and renowned Thomas Telford School, rated Outstanding by Ofsted.

We combine first rate facilities with a commitment to develop expertise and excellence in individuals.

PGCE

We deliver the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (containing 60 Masters Level Credits) in:

The courses are based on a University model but incorporate all the facilities and experience offered by 30 Partner Secondary Schools.

Tuition is based at Thomas Telford School and uses the consortium of schools to provide supported teaching practices.

GTP

The West Midlands Consortium also accredits Graduate Training Programmes (GTP) for all subjects at Secondary level delivered through our consortium of schools.

This is an employment route that allows you to train towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) whilst working within one of our Partner Secondary Schools.
