Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) Finances
The GTP is part of the Training and Development Agency’s Employment Based Initial Teacher Training programmes.
The programme suits people who want to gain Qualified Teacher Status and continue to earn their living while they train.
The training salary for a Graduate Trainee is at Point 1 of the Unqualified Teacher Salary Scale and is paid by the training school. The Training School also provides a Training Contract for the length of the GTP which details school specific aspects such a term-dates and working hours.
As GTP is employment based the salary is subject to income tax and insurance deductions. Graduate Trainees are not eligible for any further financial support such as Student Loans, Maintenance Grants, Golden Hellos etc.
