The four day course, is based at Thomas Telford School in Telford on dates in 2015 to be announced with two further weekdays to suit course participants in two Consortium Secondary Schools.

The Teacher Taster Course is intended to give prospective students the opportunity to gain an understanding for teaching either Art & Design or Mathematics in secondary schools. The course will also provide details of the West Midlands Consortium PGCE courses and teaching as a career.
Two Saturdays, 11 and 25 May 2013, will be based at Thomas Telford School. Participants will also spend two days during the intervening two weeks in two of the West Midlands Consortium's secondary schools. The Thomas Telford School based days will be from 9.30am until 3.30pm, the school based days will follow the individual timings of each school. The days have been selected to minimise participants having to book leave and to help with their other work commitments or childcare responsibilities. West Midlands Consortium will provide light refreshments and lunch on days 1 & 4.

Course participants will be placed in two West Midlands Consortium's secondary school in order to observe teaching in their selected subject area. Participants will be able to talk to Professional Tutors and other Subject Mentors to help gain greater insight into teaching today. Participants will not be required to carry out any teaching, but will complete observation schedules.

A deposit of £35 is required with your application but is refunded on completion of the course. Places on the Teacher Taster Courses are limited. Please ensure your application is returned to the West Midlands Consortium by 6 May 2013.
